Knee Arthroscopy
Associate Professor Hope is the only orthopaedic surgeon in Australia with a PhD in meniscal tears of the knee joint.
A/Prof Hope performs all knee arthroscopy using radio frequency chondroplasty. This tool removes damaged tissue without actually touching the surface.
Radio frequency chondroplasty involves holding the tool a few millimetres from the joint surface where it emits bubbles of excitable gas known as ‘glow discharge plasma.’ The plasma simply dissolves damaged tissue in the knee leaving only healthy tissue with an extremely smooth surface.
A/Prof Hope performs his arthroscopy operations tourniquet free resulting in less pain and faster recovery.
